Musician Cancellation Policy

At MyGiglists, we are committed to maintaining a professional, reliable, and trustworthy marketplace for live music bookings. clients/employers depend on our musicians to show up on time, prepared, and ready to deliver exceptional performances. This Musician Cancellation Policy ensures fairness for clients/employers while acknowledging that musicians may sometimes face unavoidable circumstances.

This policy applies to all musicians who accept bookings through the MyGiglists platform.

Expectations for All Musicians

Once a musician accepts a booking on MyGiglists, they are expected to:

  • Honor the agreed performance date and time.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the client/employer and the MyGiglists team.
  • Prepare adequately and show up on time.
  • Avoid double-booking or accepting conflicting engagements.
  • Cancelling a confirmed booking should be a last resort.

Cancellation Timelines & Consequences

  • Cancellation More Than 14 Days Before the Event
    • No penalty applies.
    • Musician must notify MyGiglists immediately and give a valid reason.
    • MyGiglists will assist the client/employer in finding a replacement.
  • Cancellation 8–14 Days Before the Event
    • 10% deduction from the musician’s future payout (or account balance), applied as a penalty.
    • A written explanation is required.
    • Frequent cancellations in this window may affect ranking and visibility on the platform.
  • Cancellation 7 Days or Less Before the Event
    • This is considered a late cancellation.
    • 25% penalty deducted from the musician’s next payout or account balance.
    • Musician may receive a temporary account warning.
    • Frequent late cancellations may result in:
    • Reduced visibility in search results,
    • Temporary suspension, or
    • Removal from the platform (in severe or repeated cases).

Emergency or Force Majeure Cancellations

MyGiglists understands that life can be unpredictable. Events such as severe illness, accidents, bereavement, security concerns, or government restrictions may require emergency cancellation.

In such cases:

  • Musicians must notify MyGiglists immediately, providing reasonable proof where necessary.
  • MyGiglists will waive penalties if the reason is verified and legitimate.
  • We will assist the client/employer in finding a replacement artist.
  • We handle every emergency with compassion and fairness.

No-Show Policy

If a musician fails to show up for an event without cancellation or legitimate reason:

  • This is considered a serious breach of contract.
  • Consequences include:
    • 50% penalty applied to the musician’s account,
    • Immediate placement on a probation status,
    • Temporary or permanent suspension from the platform,
    • A negative mark on the musician’s profile review system.
  • Clients/employers may also submit a report that becomes part of the musician’s performance history.

Replacement Commitment

If a musician must cancel:

  • They may recommend a verified replacement musician, but only MyGiglists can confirm the replacement.
  • A recommended replacement must have equal or similar skill, performance style, and professionalism.
  • MyGiglists reserves the right to reject a replacement if standards are not met.

This helps maintain consistency and trust for clients/employers.

Communication Requirements

When cancelling a booking, musicians must:

  • Notify MyGiglists immediately (not just the client/employer).
  • Provide a clear and honest explanation.
  • Avoid last-minute silence or ghosting, which may result in penalties.
  • Professional communication is part of your responsibility as a MyGiglists musician.

Account Review for Repeated Cancellations

  • MyGiglists may conduct an account review if:
    • A musician cancels more than 3 bookings in 90 days, or
    • Receives multiple client/employer complaints related to reliability.
  • Outcomes may include:
    • Coaching or performance feedback,
    • Reduced ranking in the system,
    • Temporary suspension,
    • Permanent removal from the marketplace.

We aim to protect the integrity of the platform and ensure high standards for all clients/employers.

This policy exists to:

  • Protect clients/employers who invest in professional entertainment,
  • Encourage reliability among musicians,
  • Maintain trust and reputation within the MyGiglists ecosystem.
